Some days it seems like most people are going from stress to stress, then back to stress, and so on. We need to have a system to manage our stress and keep us focused on being resilient in the midst of it all.10 Tips For Focus, Strength, And Resilience

1.  Pay attention to your body.  You know when (or if) you are stressed.  When you are stressed, your body is worn out and your gut is telling you something is wrong.  Give yourself a BIG V bulletin – mean it – stomp, yell, say it out loud, “I’m so stressed out, I can’t take it anymore!  I’m going to have to take a nap in the middle of the day!”

2.  Engage your mind.  This is important.  Not your head, but your “other half” – the side of you that thinks like a human being, and isn’t made up of code and procedure – it’s better than a machine.  This speaking is great for bouncing ideas off of.  Keep that game face on and keep your finger on the pause button.

3.  Use your “other half”- your “other half” does not think like a human being.  It’s the side of you that focuses on using your other parts of the body to change the stress, creating you to feel more resilient – more capable than you think you are.

4.  Repair what is broken.  As you go through each day, medical research reveals that we tend to treat our wounds more harshly than we must, given the state of repair that each organ has involved.  Good news, you can keep that same level of researched research going.

5.  Ask for help.  Often during times of stress there are things that we just don’t know how to do, but we know they’re good for us.  Little gives us big results – so ask for help, whether it’s an expert at your risk or a new tool for your management.  Use it!  Ask for it!

6.  Become accountable to yourself.  Sometimes no one else is helping when we have to manage our stress.  Ask yourself to be accountable.  What helps you?  Yes, by working with a coach, someone to hold you accountable, you will often find that people, including people you love most have an easier time getting you through tough times.

7.  Embrace learning.  Rather than harboring the fear that once again your world was condemning you, say, “I want to learn more, I’m hungry for it.”  This single act almost always changes your perspective.  What if everything you ever learned was still within you?  What lessons and aspects of yourself did this experience teach you?  It’s been said that it’s what we do with the learning that helps us succeed.  How do you want to learn from the next painful experience?

8.  Make this season your best season ever.  What does that look like?  How can you become a better leader of the people you’ve chosen to lead?  How can you see things from a different place?  What would you like to change, or how could you change them?  A lot of people want to try something new mid-year to maintain the joy – go beyond changing your business during this up-coming year to change your life in primary.

9.  Create!  The most powerful way to focus is a byproduct of a focused mind.  Taking action, making a difference in your world, and letting go of the burdens you’ve been carrying around for years – all of these are a result of focus.  By letting go of these unnecessary emotional baggage that weighs you down in the moment and draining your energy, you can emerge recharged and ready to face the New Year with renewed vigor and inspiration.

10.  Celebrate your life.  It’s constantly evolving: Physical, Spiritual, Relationship, Career, and Financial!  Keep track of your successes.  They’re critical to your focus, energy, and resilience.

With all of the focus, focus, focus that your new year may have become more stressful than you’re used to.  With all of the pressure of setting and achieving goals, it seems less likely you’ll also get around to “being” the person YOU want to be.
